General Election Data and IT Specialist General Election 2026

Job Description

Are you passionate about creating Green change? This could be the job for you!

This is a fixed-term role supporting the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand in the lead up to and during the 2026 general election.

The General Election Data and IT Specialist is responsible for the management of databases and information systems that relate to the Green Party’s general election campaign. This role involves oversight of our election digital systems and data to create an environment that supports a large complex flaxroots movement. This role also involves operational support and training of data volunteers to maintain and develop those systems.

The working hours are 40 hours per week. The member-driven nature of the organisation means that the Communications Specialist will need to be available during evenings and weekends. Out of hours work will intensify in the weeks before the general election. If the employer has asked, and the employee agrees to work more than their usual hours of work in a week, the employee will get time off in lieu.

Note: The Green Party is committed to equal employment opportunities. We acknowledge the challenges of applying especially for young, disabled, LGBTIQA+, women and/or people of color. We are happy to have a conversation about how we can support your application
