Food For Love is seeking an experienced and values-driven General Manager to support our continued growth. The role will focus on strengthening community relationships, developing business partnerships and sponsorship opportunities, and providing strong people leadership. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to provide leadership to a well-established and highly regarded not-for-profit organisation in Wānaka.
About Food For Love
Established in 2016, Food For Love is a charitable organisation which provides a free home cooked meal to people in need in the Upper Clutha region. Recipients are generally going through a challenging time, such as an illness, bereavement, relationship or financial difficulties and are nominated by someone in the community. Several of these challenges are often exacerbated by the Upper Clutha’s unique location, as many people have no family or other support around them.
Food For Love’s vision is to nourish our community and nurture social connection through nutritious food. We aim to ensure that no one in the Wānaka region is without a meal if they need one. Our team of 150+ volunteers prepare nourishing meals and baking and deliver them to our recipients.
About the role
Lead the execution of FFL’s (FFL) strategic plan, with support from the FFL Board, to advance FFL’s vision of nourishing its community and nurturing social connections through food.
Provide strong financial leadership and oversight, including financial analysis, risk identification and mitigation, and strategic recommendations, to ensure FFL’s financial sustainability.
Support the Operations Manager in the planning and delivery of high-quality day-to-day operations, including logistics coordination and health and safety compliance, to ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely and on time.
Drive achievement of FFL’s strategic objectives by developing annual work plans, budgets, and performance measures; allocating resources effectively, and monitoring and reporting on progress.
Lead revenue-generation activities, including building funding partnerships and sponsorships, securing donations and grants, and overseeing fundraising initiatives to meet financial targets.
Manage marketing and communications, including events, to strengthen FFL’s profile and maximise its social impact.
Lead community and stakeholder engagement and work collaboratively with FFL’s 150+ volunteers to build trust, participation and support FFL’s mission and values.
Strengthen organisational effectiveness by reviewing and improving systems and processes, and supporting employees through change.
Lead the FFL team, including its employees and contractors, to deliver organisational outcomes. The Operations Manager and the Volunteer and Admin Support roles report to the General Manager.
Oversee organisational governance and culture, ensuring the effective implementation of organisational policies, procedures, training programmes, and FFL’s values across the organisation.
