We help people who work with young people to strengthen their practice so that we can collectively achieve our vision: He taiao whakapūmau whakawhanake taiohi, e pūāwai mai ai a rangatahi - An empowered ecosystem of youth development, where rangatahi thrive. We act as advocates for young people and the youth sector, seeking systemic change for the benefit of young people. Ara Taiohi weaves within our sector as a partner, a connector and a resourcer for those who dedicate their lives to journeying with taiohi.
About the role
We are seeking an Advocacy and Communications superstar to join us! The Ara Taiohi Advocacy and Communications Lead operates at the interface between our organisation and key stakeholders, building the awareness, understanding and influence of the youth sector. This role works across the organisation, supporting the work of Ara Taiohi to see an empowered ecosystem of youth development that supports Rangatahi to thrive.
This role is located in our Wellington office but flexible hours and some work from home options may be possible for the right candidate.
Full time (37.5 hours a week)
Salary band: $80,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience
About you
You are a driven and organised executor who can engage purposefully with diverse stakeholders to see meaningful connection and change. You love to work relationally and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
You will have:
3-5 years minimum experience in a comparable role/setting
Strong writing skills, with the ability to share complex ideas simply; ability to write for a variety of audiences, story-telling and engagement
Analytical skills and research skills
A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Public Policy, Communications, Youth or Social Development
Familiar with the machinery of government and the political context for Aotearoa, you will bring a well-developed ability to set and meet deadlines and prioritise tasks, use initiative, and work independently and collegially. Your attention to detail, accuracy and quality combined with your confidence in using and maintaining digital engagement platforms will serve you well.
