Job Description

Gracepoint | Great Barrier Island (Orama)

Gracepoint is a faith-based recovery and wellness centre for adults (18+), offering a safe, supportive, non-clinical residential environment for people navigating burnout, mental health challenges, trauma, and significant life transitions.

About the Role

This role is residential-based on Great Barrier Island, with flexibility built in. As the role is not always full-time, there is space to continue existing counselling work online, and to return to the mainland between programme intakes.

  • Facilitate wellbeing & recovery-focussed group sessions
  • Support residents with emotional regulation, resilience, & recovery planning
  • Contribute to therapeutic & psycho-educational programme content
  • Work collaboratively with staff, referrers, & support networks (with consent)
  • Maintain ethical, professional, & confidential clinical documentation

About You

You are:

  • Qualified in Counselling, Psychotherapy, or a related field
  • A member of (or eligible for) NZAC or an equivalent professional body
  • Experienced (minimum 1 year) in counselling or mental health support
  • Practising from a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented framework
  • Comfortable working within the values and vision of a Christian, faith-based centre

You bring warmth, emotional maturity, strong boundaries, and a genuine passion for holistic, person-centred care.

Why Join Gracepoint?
