Starting salary: $83,195 - $97,876 (pro-rata) + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga

Stats NZ is looking for an Advisor – Learning Experience to join our People Experience team for a fixed-term contract while covering someone on parental leave. This is a great opportunity to contribute to building capability across our organisation and work alongside a talented team of learning, organisational development, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) specialists.

What you’ll do:

In this role, you’ll partner with stakeholders to understand learning needs and design solutions that lift performance and capability across Stats NZ. You’ll also play a key role in managing and enhancing our learning systems and offerings.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and engaging, flexible learning experiences (e-learning, induction, orientation, etc.)
  • Leading the development and maintenance of our Ako learning system (Totara LMS) ensuring it’s used to its full potential
  • Managing and leading our semi-annual Study Assistance programme, guiding staff through the application process and working with the approval panel to review submissions.
  • Researching and applying innovative learning practices and tools
  • Collaborating with internal customers to create tailored learning solutions
  • Supporting the delivery of core internal learning programmes (Stats NZ Essentials, Orientation Day, Diversity & Inclusion, Māori Crown Relations etc)

About you:

We’re looking for someone who is adaptable, creative, and motivated by growth and development.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience with adult learning strategies and facilitation
  • Knowledge of learning management systems and digital learning tools (Totara LMS, Articulate rise)
  • Strong workshop design and delivery skills
  • An interest in inclusive learning practices
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tikanga, Te reo Māori and Te Ao Māori, and engagement with local Iwi
