Join The D*List as our new Memberships & Partnerships Manager and lead two new exciting strands of our kaupapa. These strands work together to strengthen the foundations of our organisation: deepening our relationships with community and extending our reach into new audiences and spaces.

Please note, this is a 12-month contract, with potential to transition into a permanent role.

Role summary  

Memberships & Partnerships Manager is a 12 month fixed-term contract, responsible for developing two exciting areas of growth for The D*List. There is scope for the role to transition into a permanent one, funding dependent.

The first is our Membership programme - a way to strengthen connections within and across disability communities. D*List members will have access to exclusive events, merch discounts, and exciting opportunities to collaborate with The D*List. 

The second area of focus is securing values-aligned partnerships. The Memberships & Partnerships Manager will nurture partnerships with businesses, local and central govt agencies and other organisations to grow the scale and impact of The D*List’s mahi. These partnerships may bring in additional revenue, grow new relationships, or provide access to new spaces and opportunities that elevate the visibility of our community.


The scope of the role includes the following key responsibilities:

  • Membership Programme  
    • Work with others in the team to develop a membership plan, outlining the priorities
      of the programme, and defining success criteria
    • Set up digital infrastructure to support the goals of the programme
    • Prepare written and visual material to successfully launch the programme

  • Membership engagement - communications and activation
    • Encourage engagement, connection and participation by preparing valuable
      outbound communications to D*List members
    • Provide timely responses to inbound queries from members
    • Collaborate with D*List members to activate offline and online community gatherings

  • Partnerships generation - relationships, partnerships and sponsorships 
    • Identify opportunities within our work to create partnerships of mutual value
    • Work with organisations to activate partnerships that generate revenue, develop
      relationships, or provide access to new audiences and spaces
    • Seek and secure sponsorships for key D*List digital properties, e.g. website sections,
      flagship podcast

About You

Ideally, you’ll have lived experience of disability, neurodiversity, or chronic health conditions, or have strong relationships across disability communities. You will share our commitment to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will also be someone who loves to be part of creating new things, and is excited by the idea of contributing to the growth and evolution of The D*List.

We’re also interested in the following specific skills and experience: 

  • A depth of experience in relationship management, member management, and/or community management
  • Some experience in project management: an ability to balance multiple priorities and schedule tasks effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong digital literacy and comfort working with digital platforms, tools and systems
  • Comfortable working with budgets and payments
