The role | Te tūnga   

As Senior Advisor – Marketing and Communications you will be part of the Communications Team within the Office of the Chief Executive. We are a centralised communications and marketing function providing strategic and tactical marketing and communications support across Stats NZ.    

We’re looking for a generalist communications and marketing practitioner who enjoys being busy and can turn their hand to a range of projects and activity. You’ll be primarily supporting our collections mahi, including the census and a range of household and business surveys. It’s an exciting time to be part of this work!

What you bring | Nōu te rourou  

To be successful in this role you’ll:     

  • be a proud communications and marketing generalist with at least five-years’ experience in a similar senior communications and marketing role    
  • be skilled at converting strategic, complex or technical information into clear, compelling material that’s fit for purpose and audience    
  • have a working understanding of direct mail marketing - you’ll be working closely with our direct mail specialist to improve the experience for survey respondents 
  • have sound interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships internally and with suppliers 
  • be able to demonstrate a track record in providing high quality advice to senior leaders   
  • be comfortable switching between big picture, creative thinking, tactical marketing and communications operations and reactive issues management     
  • experience working with subject matter experts to produce accessible information including alternate formats (for example Easy Read, large print, braille, audio and NZ Sign Language) and translations  
  • bring a can-do, whatever it takes attitude     
  • have a good understanding of economic, social and governmental influences, the political environment and other agencies and groups likely to impact on our organisation.
