Job Description

About the role

As a Conversation Partner, you will provide a client with the opportunity to enjoy meaningful social conversation in a supportive, relaxed environment. Through regular visits, you’ll help build confidence, connection, and communication skills.

After completing training, you may be matched with a client near you, depending on availability and suitability.

 

Time commitment

  • Visit your client once a week, between Monday and Friday
  • Each visit lasts approximately 1 hour

 

About our clients

Through supported conversation, our clients, who have post-stroke communication difficulties, gain increased confidence, improved communication, and valuable social connection.

 

About you

We’re looking for volunteers who are:

  • Good listeners
  • Interested in learning about different ways of communicating
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Able to provide their own transport

 

Training and ongoing support

  • Training is provided across two full days
  • Delivered in West Auckland
  • Training dates: Thursday 19 February and Thursday 26 February
  • Volunteers are well supported with ongoing guidance from a Speech-Language Therapist and a Volunteer Coordinator.
