The Welcome Bay Community Centre serves as a hub for the communities of Welcome Bay, Ohauiti, Maungatapu, Hairini, Poike, and Waitao. We deliver vital services, programs, and advocacy to support our diverse community. Our mission is to empower, connect, and enrich all whānau, ensuring every member of our community feels valued and supported.

The Role
As the Centre Manager, you will:
Lead a high-performing, motivated, and competent team to deliver top-quality programs, support, and advocacy.
Build and maintain strong relationships with the Centre’s Committee, key stakeholders, iwi, community agencies, and local groups.
Oversee the Centre’s operations, including managing the facility, staff, volunteers, and financial resources. Plan and implement programs and community events that align with the Centre’s mission and the community’s needs. Manage funding applications and ensure the Centre’s financial sustainability. Be the spokesperson for the Centre, ensuring clear, professional communication across all channels.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Build and support a highly motivated, competent team of staff
and volunteers. Demonstrate excellent conflict resolution skills to foster a harmonious and effective working environment.
Open Communication: Ensure clear, transparent, and professional communication with the Committee, team, stakeholders, and the wider community, enhancing the Centre’s reputation and relationships.
Community Engagement: Foster strong relationships with local community members, iwi, hapu, and key partners, actively participating in meetings, hui, and collaborative projects.
Facility Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the community facility, including room hire, security, and maintenance.
Financial Management: Work with the Committee to manage budgets, funding applications, and financial reporting.

Policy and Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain high standards of workplace safety.

What We’re Looking For:

Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, support, and motivate a highperforming team. Proven conflict resolution skills, with the ability to handle issues in a constructive and collaborative manner. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on open, honest, and transparent communication.
Experience in community development and building collaborative partnerships.
Financial management experience, including budgeting and funding applications. Ability to work independently and alongside a Committee. Key relationships with mana whenua

Hours:

This role is for 36 hours per week.
