About the Role       

As Communications Coordinator, you’ll support the delivery of day-to-day communications, engagement and activities across all channels. You’ll play a key role in inspiring confidence in the veterinary profession and the work of New Zealand Veterinary Association Te Pae Kīrehe (NZVA), and enhancing the collective wellbeing of animals, people, and our environment.

You’ll provide an effective, integrated communications approach –making the most of content, events, and opportunities to reach our audiences through the channels and tools they use most. Through your work, you’ll bring our vision to life across our communications channels, building confidence, engagement, and trust in what we do.

What you’ll do

  • Create and publish approved content, and providing timely, appropriate, and accurate responses to comments on NZVA’s social media accounts
  • Coordinate the publishing of all website updates and new content in a timely manner
  • Coordinate content and publish the fortnightly e-newsletter, VetNews
  • Contribute to the planning, writing and scheduling of communications for NZVA’s members, including advertisements for VetScript and special interest branch publications
  • Review, analyse, and report on website and social media campaign performance and engagement metrics
  • Work alongside the Events Team to develop marketing and communications for events
  • Contribute to the development of a social media strategy, aligned to content pillars from NZVA’s strategic plan
  • Ensure content is current, engaging, fit for purpose, and compliant with the NZVA’s Style Guide and brand guidelines
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with NZVA’s key stakeholders (Veterinarians, special interest groups, staff, etc)
  • Bring energy, creativity and collaboration as an active member of the Communications team and the wider NZVA team.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in communications (e.g. corporate communications, social media marketing, member engagement), or a related field
  • Experience in NGO membership services or customer-focused environments is highly advantageous
  • Excellent writing skills, spelling and grammar, and ability to communicate clearly in plain English
  • Experience in customer-centric writing for multiple audiences across channels such as web, social media, newsletters, articles, and blogs, etc
  • Strong digital skills, with knowledge of databases, websites, social media, performance analytics, and search engine optimisation (SEO)
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills, and ability to work to deadlines
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • A positive source of energy and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within teams
  • Friendly and responsive, with empathy and the ability to relate to all NZVA members
  • Technologically savvy, with proficiency across common IT platforms, including MS Office Suite, social media, CRM databases (Gecco, Silverstripe), InDesign, SharePoint, and other cloud-based applications
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in communications or relevant field is preferred but not essential.

This permanent, part-time role (20 hours per week) can be worked across 3–5 days, and is based on Victoria St, Wellington CBD. The starting salary range is $70,000–$75,000 per annum (full-time equivalent), depending on experience.
