 Professional Development Manager

About the role 

  • Permanent 

  • 30 hours per week 

  • Wellington based 

The Professional Development Manager is a pivotal role in our National Office team.  You will be working to ensure that NZ’s Counselling profession has access to relevant learning opportunities to help them in their work.    

The role of the Professional Development Manager is to organise a programme of regular, quality professional development events for NZAC Members, linked to the NZAC Continuous Professional Development competency framework and members’ training needs.  This will include:  

  • Liaising with NZAC members, branches, our National Māori Roopu and other committees to determine their training needs.    

  • Leading the organisation of our national conference and in-person events.    

  • Ensuring events are delivered on time and within budget.    

  • Some travel and regular evening work will be required.    

  • Hybrid work options are possible with this role.  

The successful applicant must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and will be required to undergo a criminal history check.  

About You

To be successful in this role you will have great people skills and a passion for learning.  We are looking for someone who has: 

  • Demonstrated capability in coordinating and delivering professional or workforce development programmes.  

  • Event management experience. 

  • Experience working in a membership organisation or working with volunteers. 

  • An understanding of the health practitioner workforce. 

  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills.   

  • A working knowledge of Te Reo Māori ōnā Tikanga (Māori language and customs) and alignment with the values expressed in Ngā Pou (our guiding principles and philosophy).   

  • Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to work collaboratively.  

  • Confidence with IT and experience using online webinar platforms. 

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills. 

It would be advantageous to have an understanding of Counselling practice and education.
