As the Lead Learning Support Assistant, you will work directly with rangatahi who have experienced barriers to mainstream education. You’ll provide practical, day-to-day learning and wellbeing support, helping create a safe, engaging and inclusive environment where young people can build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
Alongside student support, you’ll offer day-to-day guidance and leadership to Learning Support Assistants, helping ensure consistent, calm and best-practice support across the programme. You’ll work closely with teachers, youth workers and whānau to support holistic, learner-centred pathways.
You’re someone who:
Has experience working with young people, ideally in alternative education, youth work or learning support
Builds strong, trusting relationships and leads with empathy, consistency and fairness
Understands behaviour as communication and uses trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches
Is confident supporting others, modelling best practice and contributing to a positive team culture
Is committed to rangatahi wellbeing, inclusion and culturally responsive practice
Be part of a values-driven organisation committed to youth wellbeing and equity
Work in a small, supportive team where relationships come first
Make a tangible difference in the lives of rangatahi and their whānau
