Where community happens, and everyone belongs

Who We Are

We're cession|community trust—a grassroots crew on a mission to meet people where they are, honour their journeys, and support them freely with integrity, authenticity, and compassion. Think of us as village-builders in the heart of East Auckland. We believe everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered, so we show up with youth programmes, family support, community kai nights, mental health courses, counselling help, and life-skills development. Real connection is our vibe, compassion is our action, and every story matters.

The Role

We're looking for someone who loves people, thrives on connection, and gets energised by building community. You'll be mentoring young people, supporting families, running our Collide Youth Drop-in Centre, and helping create the kind of village where everyone feels at home. This isn't just a job—it's about walking alongside people and making real impact, together.

What You'll Be Up To

Connecting with Young People & Families

  • Be a trusted friend and mentor to youth and whānau—someone they can count on

  • Help run our Collide Youth Drop-in Centre (think games, chats, laughter, and safe space)

  • Connect people with support services and resources when life gets tricky

Building Community

  • Be a Community Chaplain—showing up with compassion, a listening ear, and genuine care

  • Rally volunteers, run events, and help people discover their gifts

  • Hang out at The Depot, building relationships with tenants and community members

  • Co-create and run programmes—life skills, parenting support, wellbeing initiatives, you name it

  • Help with comms, pastoral care, and keeping our programmes running smoothly

  • Chip in with funding applications and reporting (we promise it's not as boring as it sounds!)

You Might Be Our Person If...

  • You've got experience or training in youth work, community stuff, chaplaincy, or something similar

  • You're a natural connector—people feel comfortable around you

  • You can juggle multiple things without losing your cool

  • You're organised but flexible (because community work keeps you on your toes!)

  • You're committed to our mission and willing to be actively involved in Cession Community Church

  • You believe in the power of showing up, being real, and doing life together

Why You'll Love It Here

  • Real impact: You'll see lives change—including your own

  • Supportive crew: Regular check-ins, development opportunities, and a team that's got your back

  • Flexibility: We work around life's rhythms, because balance matters

  • Belonging: This isn't just a workplace—it's a community you'll be proud to be part o
