Play a strategic role in community-led solutions that empower regeneration and resilience across Aotearoa
Do you want to help shape a thriving, sustainable future for Aotearoa? Join Environment Hubs Aotearoa (EHA), a nationally connected, for-purpose network empowering communities to drive regeneration and resilience across the motu.
Who We Are
EHA is a leading network of over 20 community-led hubs, from Kaitaia to Riverton, working together to protect, nurture, and improve environmental outcomes. Since 2015, we’ve connected regional hubs, leading organisations, and changemakers to unlock the power of local knowledge and create lasting, positive change for te taiao (the environment) and future generations.
Our mahi (work) is guided by the principles of collaboration, advocacy, capacity building, and scalable impact. We support a wide range of community initiatives, including:
Environmental education and advocacy
Waste minimisation and food rescue
Warm, safe, and energy-efficient homes
Sustainable transport and food security
Protection and restoration of local ecosystems
Through our national team and member hubs, we have achieved:
2.8+ tonnes of waste diverted from landfill (excluding food rescue and e-waste)
14,000+ tamariki (children) attended hub programmes at schools
582+ tonnes of kai (food) rescued, reaching over 218,000 people
We amplify the efforts of communities to educate, plant, restore, rescue food, divert waste, and build warm, sustainable homes.

Environment Hubs run programmes, answer public queries, and host events and workshops. EHA members upskill, educate, energise, inform, plant, weed, trap, recycle, fix, rescue food, divert waste and work on creating sustainable, healthy, insulated homes throughout their communities. By working together nationally we bring better opportunities to more communities and scale up the positive effect for our environment. To support the local work of our member network we run a national coordination office that connects, inspires and empowers our members.
