Job Description

We need an electrical appliance tester to support our Pathways to Settlement Programme in Dunedin. This volunteer role requires 2 hours every month, at a time that suits you. The role will take place in Dunedin Central.

Role Description

Electrical appliance tester volunteers make sure that donated appliances are electrically safe before they are included in homeware packs for refugee background families and individuals.

You'll be testing and tagging donated household appliances, making sure that low voltage single phase and polyphase electrical equipment is electrically safe. These are then provided to former refugee clients of our Pathways to Settlement service, which we provide in eight locations across the motu. 

 Your tasks

  • Test and tag donated electrical appliances
  • Communicate regularly with our settlement team

Requirements

Volunteers must have the knowledge and skills to undertake testing and tagging of electrical equipment. You do not need to be a registered electrical worker, however you must be able to understand the WorkSafe standards that are in place and have a current test and tag certifiaction.
