ABOUT THE ROLE
Do you love storytelling through writing, building relationships, and making a real impact? We’re on the lookout for an experienced and passionate Grant Writer to join our amazing team and help secure funding that powers our lifesaving work with animals.

This is a permanent, full-time role (Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week) that can be based anywhere in New Zealand as the Grants Team is spread across the country and works collaboratively online.
As a key member of our growing Grants Team, you’ll write compelling and well-researched submissions to grow sustainable grant income, build strong relationships with funders, and contribute to SPCA’s mission of creating a better life for animals across Aotearoa.

What you’ll do:
•    Write engaging, story-led grant submissions to secure essential funding.
•    Identify and research new grant opportunities aligned with SPCA’s work.
•    Strengthen and maintain positive relationships with grant funders.
•    Work closely with internal teams to gather data and align messaging.
•    Manage multiple applications and deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
•    Monitor trends and provide insights to enhance our grants strategy.

ABOUT YOU
You’re a natural communicator who thrives on crafting persuasive narratives and building meaningful partnerships. You care deeply about animals and people, and you’re driven by purpose and results.

What you’ll bring:
•    3–5 years of proven grant writing experience.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Confidence juggling multiple priorities without compromising quality.
•    A strong eye for detail and accuracy, particularly with budgets and compliance.
•    Strong research and analytical skills to identify funding prospects.
•    High level of IT capability and ability to learn new systems.
•    Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
•    A proactive attitude, adaptability, and a sense of fun!
