Mō te tūnga | About the role

The role is responsible for working alongside whanau impacted by family violence who want to learn to parent through a Kaupapa Māori lens. Full support and training needed to succeed in this role will be provided. This is a full-time position, based in Manukau 

Role responsibilities include assessing needs, developing whanau centred plans, advocating, networking, and teaching new skills to parent successfully. 


Mōu | About you

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who:

  • Has a relevant, recognised qualification (Social work) or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Has benefited from trauma-informed training and experience with Whānau parenting.
  • Be experienced with proven relationships with allied agencies delivering safe, positive interventions.
  • Is competent in computer skills, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Is knowledgeable of/proficient in Kaupapa Māori approaches, Tikanga Māori and/or Te Reo Māori or the ability and willingness to learn.
  • Is resilient and able to communicate effectively and respectfully in the face of difficulty and/or difference.
  • Is a strong team player, who can also manage autonomy responsibly.
  • Understands and is empathetic to the sensitive nature of family harm & parenting approaches.
  • Is non-judgemental and respects individual choice.
  • Have input into design & delivery of a Kaupapa Māori parenting programme.
