Job Description

The Wellington Women’s Health Collective (“the Collective”) is a small not for profit organisation that has at its heart the wellbeing of women, by providing timely support, information and counselling to the women of Wellington. We were formed in 1986 and since then have become an established part of the Wellington community.

Our purpose

The purpose of the Collective is to benefit the community through empowering and supporting women to make informed choices about their physical, mental and emotional health.

Our vision is that all Wellington women will have access to the support services they need to maintain long term health and well-being and that we can deliver these services from a physical “women’s place”, alongside other like-minded services.

Role Description

Key Objectives

·         Financial Oversight: Ensure the financial health of the organization by maintaining oversight of budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.

·         Strategic Financial Planning: Support long-term sustainability by advising on funding strategies, risk management, and financial growth opportunities.

·         Accountability & Transparency: Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring clarity for the board, funders, and stakeholders.

·         Support Fundraising Efforts: Work collaboratively with the board and management team to develop and enhance funding opportunities.

·         Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure adherence to financial policies, regulations, and non-profit governance requirements.

·         Active Board Participation: Attend board meetings, contribute to discussions, and provide financial updates as needed.

Key Competencies

·         Financial Acumen: Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management (non-profit experience is a bonus).

·         Attention to Detail: Ability to oversee financial reports and ensure accuracy.

·         Strategic Thinking: Ability to assess financial risks and opportunities in alignment with organizational goals.

·         Communication Skills: Clearly present financial information to board members and stakeholders.

·         Commitment to Governance: Understanding of non-profit financial compliance and reporting requirements.
