Open Christchurch is an annual, one-weekend-only festival of exceptional architecture in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Run by Te Pūtahi - Centre for Architecture and City Making, the festival, along with building partners and kaitiaki, will open up over 50 buildings for the weekend 2 - 4 May 2025, inviting the public to discover their city through architecture.
Access to these great buildings and examples of design is an opportunity to both appreciate the aesthetic and spatial qualities of buildings, and to explore the connection between architectural design, storytelling, identity and place. There will be volunteers at each venue over the weekend, who will assist with information giving, facilitating expert tours, and health & safety. Almost all roles are customer-facing.
We have a variety of roles available: Hosts, Support Crew and assistance in the lead up to the event.
Volunteers are a vital part of Open Christchurch, and we would love for you to join us.
Please complete the EOI form linked below and we will be back in touch with you.
We exist to open people’s eyes, minds and hearts to the city. Our purpose is to help all people to create a city that amplifies their sense of joy, meaning and belonging.
Our vision is to see people and the city thrive together.
Because we believe that great cities are places where everyone can participate and all life can flourish.
We develop and run Aotearoa's largest public architecture festival, Open Christchurch, run research projects, the speaker series Christchurch Conversations and provide a variety of ways to engage with the city, urbanism and architecture.
