I Have a Dream Upper Hutt, part of the 4 A Better City Trust are looking for a passionate Navigator to join our small team in 2025.  Our Navigators are dedicated to supporting tamariki and taitamariki in their academic and personal journeys and growing purposeful relationships with their whanau.  If you thrive on creating meaningful, lasting connections and empowering young people toward a brighter future, we’d love to hear from you! 


Primary/Intermediate School Navigator – Inspiring Our Tamariki 
Are you a natural motivator with a positive energy that engages and uplifts young tamariki? We’re seeking a Navigator to work closely with Year 2-3 Dreamers at our partner school, developing educational programmes that foster resilience, wellbeing, and academic growth. If you can engage a full school community, and have a passion for building strong connections, you’re exactly who our tamariki are looking for. 


As a Navigator, you will: 
● Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate programmes for tamariki, supporting academic and social development. 
● Serve as a positive role model, building a strong sense of belonging for Year 2-3 Dreamers. 
● Foster long-term relationships with Dreamers, whānau, and the school community. 
● Support holistic development through goal-setting and coordination with whānau, school staff, and community partners. 
● Track Dreamers’ progress, maintaining records for programme monitoring and improvement. 


About I Have a Dream 
At I Have a Dream, we’re committed to providing long-term support to tamariki and taitamariki (our “Dreamers”) from primary school through high school. Through a consistent, caring adult presence, we aim to empower Dreamers to graduate with resilience, confidence, and the academic and life skills needed for a successful future. We operate from Te Ao Māori values and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with an approach grounded in Sir Mason Durie’s Te Whare Tapa Whā wellbeing model. 


What We’re Looking For in Our Navigators: 
• Positive, motivating energy with a commitment to Te Ao Māori principles.
• An intermediate level or conversational skills in Te Reo Māori would be helpful.
• Experience with tamariki in the primary school environment and/or a background in education or youth development is advantageous. 
• A genuine commitment to seeing kids thrive.
• Someone who has high integrity in their personal and professional life, and who knows how to use their initiative.
• Full NZ Drivers License
• Musical Talent would be an added bonus
