PIN Group Facilitator - Martinborough

Voluntary Community Services

Job Description

Role Overview

Are you a warm and welcoming person who loves to connect with others and share parenting experiences?

Join Whānau Āwhina Plunket as a Group Facilitator and become an integral part of our supportive Community Services team.

As a Group Facilitator, you'll create a relaxed and inviting environment where parents with babies of all ages can come together. Unlike our PIN Groups, drop-in coffee groups are more informal, attracting different parents each week and allowing for more extended interactions. This setting offers you the wonderful opportunity to build lasting connections with parents over time.

From setting up the cozy meeting space to greeting parents with a friendly smile, your presence will make every parent feel valued and accepted. You'll assist visiting guest speakers in leading discussions on vital topics such as sleep, feeding, and car seat safety, whilst nurturing a strong sense of community and belonging.

Together, we'll create a safe space where parents can share their joys, challenges, and everything in between. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of fellow parents and their precious pēpi, join us as a Group Facilitator and be part of something truly special.

Duties:

  • Setting up and packing down: Ensure the venue is prepared before each session and tidied up afterwards.
  • Meeting and greeting: Welcome parents warmly as they arrive, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
  • Attendance Register: Maintain accurate records of group attendance.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants during group sessions by being aware of emergency procedures and reporting any health and safety incidents.
  • Foster connections among group members and guide them to other local activities and resources.
  • Refreshments: Organise refreshments for group sessions, fostering a relaxed and comfortable environment.
  • Liaising with Community Services Coordinator: Ensure smooth running of the group by communicating issues, good news and end of month reporting.

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for supporting parents and caregivers, fueled by an understanding of the joys and challenges of early parenthood.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that radiate empathy, kindness, and understanding.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every parent feels valued, respected, and supported.
  • Reliability and punctuality are key to ensuring smooth and seamless support for our community of parents and caregivers.

Availability:

  • Our groups run for 3-4 weekly sessions, once per term.
  • You would need to be available from 10.00am - 12:00 Tuesdays
