The Opportunity

Dunedin Night Shelter Trust is seeking a passionate and dedicated Transitional Support Kaimahi to join our team at the Phoenix Lodge in Dunedin. This part-time role will provide vital support to individuals recently released from prison or transitioning out of homelessness and into stable accommodation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support and case management to residents of the Phoenix Lodge, helping them set and achieve personal goals.
  • Assist residents in accessing community resources and services to aid their transition.
  • Ensure the Phoenix Lodge building is maintained and is a safe and functioning environment for residents.   
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to resident progress and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure a holistic, coordinated approach to supporting our residents.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a similar support worker or case management role, ideally within the housing, homelessness or social services sector
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with a diverse range of clients
  • Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity
  • Excellent problem-solving and adaptability, with the capacity to provide person-centred, trauma-informed care
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community services or a related field
