Kairuruku Kaitūao– Volunteer Coordinator

Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley (CLWHV) is a registered charity providing free legal advice and assistance to those who cannot access other legal services in Wellington & the Hutt Valley. This work also includes the provision of free legal education in our communities, promoting law reform in the interests of our clients, and providing restorative justice services in the Greater Wellington region.
We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our Volunteer Co-ordinator team, who look after our volunteer lawyers and law students. The Volunteer Co-ordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training and co-ordination of volunteers and for the administration and service delivery of free legal help drop in sessions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of the Kairuruku Kaitūao– Volunteer Coordinator are:
· Assisting with recruitment and induction of new volunteers
· Communication with volunteers and other staff members about volunteer absences
· Rostering
· Organising and running volunteer events including trainings, inductions, meetings
You’ll also be able to get involved with Community Law’s legal advice sessions, staff meetings, and share responsibility for contributing to CLWHV’s public image, its systems and policies, and wider organisation events and operations.
The ideal candidate would an outgoing people person and someone with strong oral and written communication skills, and good computer literacy. Legal experience is not required but is advantageous. Our constitutional goal of Treaty-based operations means they will also have a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi based partnership. Sensitivity to, and knowledge of, te reo Māori and tikanga Māori is also desirable.
