We are looking for more volunteers to join our team to support the arrival of former refugee families to Palmerston North.
You will need to attend training sessions before becoming a Refugee Support Volunteer
You’ll need to be flexible. There are no set shift times for this role. The time you spend with a family will vary week to week.
You’ll be helping people navigate life in a new country, which might include:
Refugee Support Volunteers mostly serve out in the community based on the families needs. Volunteer training and meetings are hosted at the Red Cross Service Centre.
You’ll receive comprehensive training in how to give practical and social support, as well as intercultural practice.
Training dates:
Training takes approximately 8 hours and is delivered over several sessions. Training sessions alternate between daytime, evenings and weekends.

Monday 2nd February 2026 5.30pm - 8pm
Monday 9th February 2026 5.30pm - 8pm
