SAFE is seeking a Communications and Media Advisor with a deep commitment to animal rights and welfare, paired with expertise in media relations and strategic communications. This full-time, remote role (within New Zealand) is a unique opportunity to help shape SAFE’s voice and guide our communication efforts to advance impactful campaigns and projects.

 About the Role

In this role, you will manage media and public relations, ensuring all communications align with SAFE’s strategic goals and brand. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you will guide the development of campaigns, provide communications advice, and oversee strategic content to drive SAFE’s mission forward. Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing media releases, pitching stories, and managing SAFE’s presence in media
  • Advising on communications strategies to align projects and campaigns with SAFE’s brand
  • Managing risk and reputation, and proactively engaging new audiences

 

 Ideal Candidate

  • Strong background in media relations, strategic communications, and public relations management
  • Experience in providing communications guidance that aligns projects and campaigns with organisational goals
  • Familiarity with New Zealand’s media landscape and political environment
  • A fundamental understanding of animal rights and welfare advocacy
