Job Description

The social media duty officer is a rostered role, shared with others in the team to spread the workload over the week. Typically, a social media duty officer will:


● Monitor social media posts – this includes liking and responding as appropriate to encourage engagement.
● Respond to any concerning or inflammatory media posts in a constructive way to best achieve rehoming of the dog and maintain a positive community.
● Escalate any concerning commentary to the trustees or the social media manager or head of community.
● Monitor the social media inbox and either respond as appropriate or triage for attention by another team member.

Proud and passionate about working breeds, we’ve rehomed more than 1,780 retired working dogs across New Zealand since 2012

We are here for…

  • Seniors integral in helping run their farms. These stoic dogs have worked their entire lives, helping to put food on our table. They ask for so little. We help them find the pampered retirements they deserve.
  • Workers slowing down but still keen to stay busy on a smaller block of land.
  • Dogs injured on the job. When we’re able to, we bring these dogs into foster care, arranging their medical treatment and rehabilitation while they await their new homes.
  • “Failed” working dogs that would prefer life as a pet!
  • We also rehome retiring pig hunting dogs who are looking for a quieter pace of life.
