Over the past 3 years, Climate Club Aotearoa has been filling a niche in the climate movement to make climate action fun and approachable for everyday New Zealanders.
Recent research shows that New Zealanders are still struggling to identify how to take action in the climate crisis. We support people who are already worried about climate change, but not sure how to help, by lowering the barrier to high-impact action. We translate the work of scientists, experts, and activists into achievable, hopeful, systemic actions, showing people that there is something for everyone in the climate movement.
We currently have one general manager, 5 part-time contractors, and around 10 volunteers. Together, we run a popular weekly climate action newsletter, social media channels, and workshops. We are proud to have delivered workshops nationwide for communities, workplaces, schools, and over 7 councils across Aotearoa with our networks of facilitators, which has helped to fund part of our operation to date.
We have recently registered as a Charitable Trust. The current board is made up of our 3 co-founders and a strategic advisor with a facilitation background. We are looking for 2-3 new volunteer Trustees to join our board, including a Board Chair and Treasurer. Will you help shape our direction, at this critical stage when we have the momentum and opportunity to grow our impact?
Board meetings are monthly, usually 2 hours long. They are usually online via video call, and occasionally in-person in central Auckland. We'll cover the cost of travel for in-person meetings, with a preference for low-carbon travel.
There will also be the opportunity to give further input on sub-committees as required.
