Formed in 1941, Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa (Playcentre) is a licenced early childhood education provider and charitable trust. It is a bicultural organisation committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and celebrating people’s uniqueness which has a philosophy of empowering ‘parents as first educators’. Playcentre seeks to empower whānau and tamariki to work, play, learn and grow together, and today has over 400 centres nationwide.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will oversee the effective operation of the Accounts Payable and Receivable, Bank Reconciliation and Payroll processes. This will involve leading a team of six, with the likelihood of growth, and being the escalation point for any issues in these functions.

This is a new role for Playcentre following the planned centralisation of support. As such, there is plenty of scope and opportunity to help shape the role and stamp your mark, by ensuring adequate controls are in place for these financial functions and identifying and implementing efficiencies in processes.

You will oversee the development and mapping of finance processes, work closely with the Procurement Lead to find opportunities to reduce invoice volume and manage changes to accounts receivable processes with the implementation of the new operating model.

This is a unique opportunity to use your extensive experience in accounts payable and/or payroll processing at a leadership level, to make a positive difference for this important and iconic NZ organisation.

 

Person Profile:

  • A detailed knowledgege of accounting concepts and practices
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a successful accounts processing team
  • Knowledge and experience in mapping processes, identifying key controls and implementing change
  • Enjoys working collaboratively, with a ‘can do’ attitude and strong customer focus
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills; able to relate effectively and authentically at all levels
  • Empathy for the philosophy and values of Playcentre
  • A high level of initiative with effective planning, project co-ordination and organisational abilities
  • Superior communication, problem solving and analytical capabilities, coupled with sound judgement
  • Recognises the “big picture” in issues while also attending to detail
  • Experience in Dynamics Business Central, or a similar system
  • A tertiary qualification in accounting or qualified by experience
