Formed in 1941, Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa (Playcentre) is a licenced early childhood education provider and charitable trust. It is a bicultural organisation committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and celebrating people’s uniqueness which has a philosophy of empowering ‘parents as first educators’. Playcentre seeks to empower whānau and tamariki to work, play, learn and grow together, and today has over 400 centres nationwide.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will take ownership of the financial system to ensure integrity of the financial data and controls in the system, implementing improvements where necessary.

You will be responsible for processing month end accruals and adjustments, to ensure delivery of reliable and accurate month end and annual reports and will lead the delivery of the annual financial statements. You will also ensure that Playcentre Aotearoa is compliant with relevant financial regulations.

This is a new role for Playcentre following the planned centralisation of support. This transition will take some time, and as such, it will be a dynamic environment with plenty of stimulating challenges and complexity to get stuck into.

Person Profile:

  • Chartered Accountant with experience in managing a medium to large financial system
  • Superior communication, problem solving and analytical capabilities, coupled with sound judgement
  • Excellent time management skills and highly accurate
  • Enjoys working collaboratively, with a ‘can do’ attitude and strong customer focus
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills; able to relate effectively and authentically at all levels
  • Empathy for the philosophy and values of Playcentre
  • Experience in Dynamics Business Central, or a similar system with well-developed Microsoft Office Word and Excel skills
  • Member of CAANZ or equivalent professional body
  • Relevant business/accounting related qualification – Commerce, Accountancy
