Voluntary Community Services Governance Indigenous and Multicultural Services

Job Description

You will have a genuine interest in supporting people with diverse cultural backgrounds.You will be required to attend at least four meetings in a financial year ensuring that the Trust adheres to its purpose and mission. 

Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in regular Board meetings (usually quarterly) unless required more often
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Trust
- Ensure the Trust is compliant with legal and financial requirements
- Help foster relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, community groups, and government bodies
- Ensure the Trust operates with transparency, integrity, and accountability

Ideal Candidate:
Ideally, you will have experience in governance, leadership, strategic planning, budgeting, or in a similar role. We are looking for someone who is passionate about contributing to the Indian community in Ōtautahi Christchurch and has the following qualities and experience:

- Experience in governance or serving on a Board (desirable but not essential)
- Financial literacy and an understanding of charitable governance
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a deep understanding of cultural competency, especially in Aotearoa/New Zealand
- Strategic thinking and the ability to make informed decisions
- Experience in [any specific areas needed, e.g., legal, human resources, project management, evaluation, reporting, planning and budgeting]
