English Language Partners is a not-for-profit , award-winning education provider with NZQA category 1 endorsement, that has been providing English language programmes and settlement services to adult refugees and migrants throughout New Zealand for over 40 years.
With 21 centres spanning from Whangarei to Invercargill, our dedicated team of 330 staff and 800 volunteers annually supports around 8,000 learners. We are passionate about supporting former refugees and migrants to participate successfully in all aspects of life in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our National Office, located in a great office space on The Terrace in Wellington, serves as the hub of operations.
We are looking for a skilled Programme Developer and Trainer to join the Programmes team to support high quality programme development and training in Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
About the role
Kaiwaihanga Rauemi Ako is responsible for creating high-quality, culturally responsive educational materials focused primarily on Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi but also supporting our wider suite of programmes.
This role aims to support English Language Partners New Zealand's mission by developing resources that facilitate understanding of Aotearoa New Zealand's cultural heritage for former refugees and migrants learning English. The role also supports the development of materials that support the delivery of innovative and effective English language teaching materials for both in-person and online delivery.
This is a permanent part-time role, requiring 22.5 hours per week. The programmes team is based at National Office in Wellington, but we are also open to applications from other locations where we have ELP teaching centres. You may be required to visit different centres to connect with teachers and learners at a local level.
What you’ll be doing
· Collaboratively develop and design programme materials with a focus on Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
· Provide advice and support to National Office Staff, Centre Managers, Programme Coordinators, and Teachers on planning and delivering culturally inclusive programmes.
· Develop and share resources and guides specifically designed to support the teaching of Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
· Design and conduct orientation sessions for new teachers that include comprehensive coverage of Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, through both online and face-to-face meetings.
· Provide information for, and participate in, ongoing organisational development and improvement.
Is this you?
· A solid grounding in Te Ao Māori.
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of knowledge.
· Minimum 6 years ESOL teaching experience with adults. Experience working in the education sector or with migrants highly desirable but not essential as is fluency in a second language.
· Proven experience in the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and knowledge of a range of digital learning tools.
· Staff training experience particularly related to Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cross-cultural competence.
· Proven experience in project management.
· Excellent IT skills across with Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
