The Role
We are looking for a Freelance Digital Financial Journalist ideally with expertise in KiwiSaver and Responsible Investing. This is a flexible, freelance contract role (approximately 20 hours per week), allowing you the freedom to work remotely or from our Rotorua office. You’ll have the flexibility to set your own hours, take on other projects, and invoice for your work while contributing to one of New Zealand’s most reputable financial publications.

Key Responsibilities

• Write engaging content on KiwiSaver, sustainable investing, and responsible, tailored for financial professionals.
• Stay updated on trends in responsible investing, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) factors, and KiwiSaver fund performance to provide timely and relevant news.
• Interview industry leaders and experts in responsible investing, financial planning, and KiwiSaver to gather insights and authoritative perspectives.
• Collaborate with editors to pitch and develop story ideas that align with the interests of our audience.
• Utilise data and market analysis to offer readers informed perspectives on KiwiSaver performance, fund choices, and the growth of responsible investing in New Zealand.
• Maintain accuracy and clarity in your reporting, ensuring all articles meet editorial guidelines and deadlines.

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated experience in financial journalism, with a specific focus on KiwiSaver, sustainable finance, or responsible investing.
• A solid understanding of KiwiSaver’s role in New Zealand’s financial system and the principles of responsible investing.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
• Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a freelance capacity, while delivering high-quality content.
• Experience covering the New Zealand market, including knowledge of local economic and financial dynamics.
