Mō tenei tūrana mahi - About this role

Now is an exciting time to make your mark with ACC as we continue to interweave kaupapa Māori into our day-to-day mahi. As the Principal Advisor Mātauranga Māori, you will play a pivotal role in partnering with the Deputy Chief Executive - Corporate and Finance and their leadership team to achieve the goals of Huakina te Rā and deliver improved equity in access, service experience, and outcomes for Māori.

In this influential and impactful role, you will draw on your expertise in mātauranga Māori to provide specialist guidance, advice, and analysis to strengthen cultural responsiveness and equity decision-making, ensuring milestones are met and all relevant business groups remain connected.

This role is based in Wellington and reports to the Deputy Chief Executive - Corporate and Finance.

Ko wai koe - About you

The successful candidate will be an effective relationship builder who is able to provide specialist advice and create positive working relationships with our leaders in Corporate and Finance and the wider team.

We're looking for the following:

  • Demonstrated expertise in Te Reo, Tikanga, and Mātauranga Māori
  • Deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as it applies in the public sector, and the application of its articles and principles in contemporary contexts
  • Proven experience in providing strategic advice, cultural guidance, and analysis to inform decision-making processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven experience in partnering, building and maintaining strong relationships with business leaders, with the ability to influence and quickly build trust
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and networking skills with the ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders within the Corporate and Finance Group as well as across the organisation at all levels
  • A technical background in a field relevant to a Corporate and Finance group (such as procurement).

The base salary range for this role is $138,301 – $195,248 with appointment depending on skills and experience and internal relativities. ACC also offers 9% superannuation.
