Job Description

Chief Executive

  • Make a significant impact on health and disability services across Aotearoa.
  • Lead strategic change to ensure the Trust remains fit for purpose.
  • Guide a high-profile organisation with a strong culture.

The National Advocacy Trust (Trust) is a not-for-profit organisation established in July 2007. Since its inception, the Trust has been contracted by the Director of Advocacy to provide an independent, nationwide Health and Disability Consumer Advocacy Service, in accordance with the Health and Disability Commissioner Act 1994 and the Code of Health and Disability Consumers’ Rights.

The Trust is now seeking its next Chief Executive. As the Trust supports consumers in a rapidly evolving health sector, it must embrace change to deliver services more effectively and efficiently. This includes raising the Trust’s profile, expanding communication channels, adopting flexible service delivery models, and ensuring positive influence on health sector outcomes for consumers.

As Chief Executive, you will play a key role in setting strategy, identifying opportunities, and driving change. You will need the ability to navigate complex situations and relationships, achieving the best outcomes for health and disability service consumers.

A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a culturally competent leadership style are essential. You should have proven experience in developing and maintaining relationships with government, iwi, as well as with NGOs, and diverse communities. A deep understanding of the health and disability sector is an advantage.

NAT welcomes and supports people of all gender identities, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, religions, and disabilities/abilities. An expectation of this role is to actively support and promote our diversity and inclusion principles. We want NAT to be a place where you can bring your whole self to work.

Your leadership approach should inspire, motivate, and engage your team, fostering collaboration and cooperation. Experience at the Chief Executive or senior leadership level, with a focus on strategic leadership, is highly desirable.

Please note: The current Interim Chief Executive will be applying for this role.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate senior leader dedicated to delivering results for health and disability service consumers.
