About us

For nearly 60 years, the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra has played a fundamental role in Dunedin's vibrant arts and culture scene. It's performances attract large audiences, presents top conductors and soloists, and an increasinly diverse range of works. Its performances are widely acclaimed, and often nationally broadcast. It performs in the Dunedin Town Hall, King's and Queen's Performing Arts Centre, and in its own home Hanover Hall. As well as five concerts in its flagship series, this year it is presenting a concert of ABBA music, as well as a very wide range of education and outreach projects. It also tours its projects around Otago and Southland.

Qualifications & experience

  • Demonstrable successful fundraising experience, especially in the not-for-profit sector and/or in Dunedin and/or in arts administration.
  • Experience in designing and implementing campaigns and identifying and securing new sources of funding from sponsors, donors and trusts.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with a wide variety of people.
  • Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including time management, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products and in database management.
  • Excellent written and oral skills.
  • Preferably an active interest in orchestral music and the cultural sector, and a strong network of contacts and relationships within Dunedin and Otago.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Build relationships with current and potential key financial partners.
  • Implement fundraising activities in conjunction with relevant stakeholders.
