Job Description

Brain Tumour Support New Zealand  are looking for a support Navigator.

We are looking for a caring and compasionate person who can manage and deliver our services. This includes online support groups,support friends programme and assisting people to navigate the wider wraparound supports they may need throughout their  brain tumour journey.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, energetic team who are highly committed to improving the lives of people diagnosed with a brain tumour and their families.

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide  information, advice and navigation of  support services to the brain tumour community throughout New Zealand when they contact BTSNZ.This will be through a variety of channels.
  • Respond to and connect with new enquiries, including follow up, to assess immediate and future needs . This includes navigation of support required and providing guidance to other support agencies and services.
  • Schedule and facilitate monthly online support groups including participation in peer supervision of support group facilitators
  • Manage the support friend programme, including recruiting and interviewing new volunteers and matching the support friends to people needing support.
  • Maintain systems and procedures to ensure effective service delivery
  • Accurate capture of data and impact for monthly reporting.

Who You Are

  • Have a high level of trust, compassion and empathy for people and their journey.
  • Is able to build rapport and trust quickly so that difficult and challenging topics can be discussed in a safe space and with sensitivity.
  • Excellent  communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds.
  • Has good computer skills and demonstrated  ability in Word,Excel,CMS systems , data collection and reporting.

Qualifications

  • You will have a degree in counselling,social work or nursing or proven ability to utilise counselling/support skills with a minimum of two years relevant experience in the sector.
