At FinCap we support 185 local financial mentoring services with tools and resources to help them deliver high quality financial mentoring in their communities. About the role

The Sector Workforce Development Team Leader is a newly established role, responsible for providing leadership and operational support to the Sector Workforce Development team. The overall aim of this team is to support FinCap to deliver on its goal of enabling professionalisation of the financial mentoring workforce.

This role will support the team to ensure that the financial mentoring workforce has clarity on its professional development and is thereby well positioned and supported to work with clients experiencing financial stress and hardship. This will include the delivery of specific project work as well as supporting ongoing operational work.

You’ll work will work across the FinCap team to contribute to strategic planning and ensure strong links between projects, implementation, funding and monitoring. You’ll proactively manage your team’s workflow and resource allocation and ensure the efficient delivery of day-to-day operations alongside project work.

This is a full-time role, based in our Wellington office with the option to work from home up to two days per week.

A bit about you

We’re looking for someone who has experience leading a team and programmes of work within a complex environment.  If you have experience working with clients as a financial mentor that would be a bonus to bring a closer understanding of the needs of the sector.

Specifically, we are looking for someone who has:

  • People leadership skills and experience. You’ll have great interpersonal skills and demonstrated team leadership.
  • Project management experience. If you have qualifications in business management or project management that would be a bonus.  
  • Knowledge of the financial mentoring sector and more broadly the Building Financial Capability sector.
  • Excellent communication skills. You’ll be comfortable writing reports and contributing to meetings with a range of stakeholders.
  • Relationship building skills. You’ll be great at influencing and engaging with external and internal stakeholders. Specifically ensuring the needs of Māori and Pasifika communities are met through consultation and building relationships with stakeholders in these communities.
  • Experience working with project management tools, document management control and Microsoft Office suite.
