Established in 1996 as an incorporated society with charitable status, the New Zealand Resuscitation Council sets the standard for resuscitation and first aid in New Zealand through providing public access to information, education programmes, training, international scientific developments, and other services and activities related to resuscitation.           

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic communications professional looking to advance their career and make a meaningful impact on improving outcomes for New Zealanders.

Working closely with the Communications & Engagement Manager and Chief Executive, you will be responsible for supporting the mission of the Council through meaningful engagement with members and stakeholders through the development and implementation of high-quality internal and external communications and content. The three main aspects and duties of this role include:  

Communications

  • Developing marketing materials and content to support and promote awareness of the Council’s work, such as ‘World Restart a Heart’ annual campaign
  • Managing, posting and updating content on the Council’s website and overseeing their social media channels (Facebook and X/Twitter)

Engagement

  •  Serving as the primary point of contact for life support instructors
  • Coordinating and overseeing the Whakawhanaungatanga (the “glue” that holds people together) Pastoral Care programme for all instructors, including providing proactive pastoral care, support, and conducting regular follow-up
  • Facilitating and coordinating online and face-to-face training seminars for instructors
  • Proactively build and maintain strong, positive relationships with instructors, key stakeholders, suppliers and members

Administration

  • Maintaining the CRM database to ensure information is up-to-date and relevant
  • Working with the Administration Assistant to manage the shared email inbox, ensuring enquiries are responded to promptly and accurately
  • Contributing to the Council’s key initiatives, projects, and events as required


This is a permanent position, preferably for 0.8FTE (32 hours per week). Based in Wellington Central. Flexible working arrangements are available for the right candidate.

Person Profile:

  • Experience in communications, engagement and/or media management
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • Track record of producing clear and compelling content for diverse audiences
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and able to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of people
  • Well-organised, with excellent time management skills
  • Creative, with a strong eye for detail and design aesthetics
  • Positive, self-motivated, proactive, responsive and able to work well independently and within a team
  • Computer literate and proficient with using Microsoft Office Suite, MAC operating systems and Adobe Creative Suite
  • ·Experience with Silverstripe, Shopify and Survey Monkey is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to pick up new systems and processes easily
