Job Description

Community Development and Partnerships Advisor x2 (1x permanent and 1x fixed term – three years)

  • Do you have a heart for communities and want to work on projects that make a difference?
  • Do you love connecting people and have a “can-do” attitude?
  • Are you passionate about delivering great outcomes and using all your unique skills to do so?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all of the above…then this role is for you!

We are the small but mighty Community Development and Partnerships Team at the Matamata-Piako District Council. We value community, its capability to deliver meaningful initiatives and we work hard to support them to make great things happen.

About the role – Community Development and Partnerships Advisor

As part of the team, you will link Council and community by supporting diverse community-led initiatives and ensuring that larger, more traditional Council projects benefit from community input too.

No two days are the same in this role and you can definitely put your own stamp on it. You could lend a hand in gumboots while in the field, help navigate Council processes from your office and then present an update to our elected members in Chambers…. all in one day!

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is a great communicator, excellent at building positive relationships and is keen to get the job done well. We also, would like a good problem-solver, project manager and someone who prides themselves on being friendly, fun, flexible and genuine.

We are working on some very cool projects right now and are looking for two awesome people to help deliver even more.

One role is a permanent full-time role and the other is a fixed-term full-time (for approximately three years) due to funding for these projects.

So what can we offer you?

There are many great things about working at Matamata-Piako District Council. But the top ranked reason our staff give time and time again is 'the people'. We believe people are the key to the success of our organisation and we like to look after our own. We also offer a range of employee benefits including hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

Some of the staff benefits we offer are:

  • Flexible work arrangements and a family friendly work environment
  • Recognition of current local government service for the purpose of annual leave entitlements
  • Sick leave on commencement of employment
  • Access to wellbeing resources and workplace support

So, if you want to join a great team and make a difference in the community development of some very special towns….let’s talk!
