Job Description

The Prostate Cancer Foundation is a growing, influential organisation focussed on two significant men’s health conditions – prostate and testicular cancers. You will be a key member of the charity’s fundraising team, which has a dual responsibility to protect and develop existing revenue streams while responsibly exploring and converting new opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity to help a leading nationwide charity making a difference in an area that touches the lives of hundreds of thousands of kiwis. The successful applicant will be able to show evidence of both office and customer facing skills in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence are a must, as is an ability to bring enthusiasm, respect and good humour to the role. 

The role involves daily interaction with a multitude of different people. This includes by post, on email and telephone enquiries, working with multiple stakeholders and providing general admin support. You’ll get valuable exposure to corporate, events, individual and grant fundraising. A willingness to get stuck in and do what is needed is essential.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to ensure smooth functioning of fundraising marketing activities
  • Maintain accurate and organised records, including donor databases and relevant documentation 
  • Building lasting relationships with our supporters and stakeholders through excellent written and verbal communication (email and phone).
  • Provide logistical and other support for our “Blue September” campaign, including (but not limited to) providing initial contact and ongoing support to our supporters by phone and email.
  • Assist in the development and execution of various digital and print marketing materials and campaigns, such as EDMs and social media posts
  • Providing administrative assistance that helps maximise the charity’s income
  • Being a proactive and an active contributor to the team and an enthusiastic presence at public-facing events for the charity

Skills and qualities: Essential

  • Experience as a fundraiser or embedded volunteer for a charity or not-for-profit organisation
  • Proficient in Office 365 (incl. Word, PPT, Excel, Teams, Sharepoint etc)
  • Knowledge of, interest in and desire to learn about and incorporate the Māori worldview in the charity’s activities
  • Effective communication, both written and oral
  • Proven time management and ability to follow processes and procedures
  • The ability to use initiative and to problem solve

Skills & experience required: Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Experience and affinity with older persons

$58,000 – $60,000 per year (total remuneration) (NZD)
