Job Description

Our vision is "Whānau tupu ngātahi - families growing together", and Playcentre Aotearoa's Trustee Board plays a vital role in the governance of our organisation, making a positive difference to thousands of tamariki and their whānau across Aotearoa.

Playcentre Aotearoa is seeking candidate applications for two Trustee Board positions that have become available due to rotation. Incumbent Trustees (if any) will be subject to the same selection process. Trustee terms will be for 3 years.

Suitable candidates who meet the following criteria are invited to express an interest in becoming a Trustee:

  • Not prevented by law from being a Trustee
  • Have or have had one or more tamariki enrolled with Playcentre Aotearoa
  • Have been an attending caregiver at a local Playcentre
  • In the case of Te Whare Tikanga Māori, are tangata whenua
  • Have a minimum of 2 years governance experience outside of Playcentre


Ideally we are seeking candidates who can: 

  • Demonstrate a strong focus on community development
  • Bring positive, dynamic and experienced governance oversight to our amazing organisation
  • Live our values in a way that inspires others
  • Understand how a charity delivering a licenced service on a national basis can grow
  • Navigate complexity and ambiguity in a changing environment
  • Lead change in an organisation that has a wide variety of views based upon differing historic understanding
