Job Description

Te Pū Harakeke—Community Collective Manawatū (TPH) exists to support, empower, and advocate for social services and community groups in Palmerston North and the Manawatū. Our vision is to see a strong, vibrant, and connected community sector in the region.

TPH is an Incorporated Society with a membership of more than 110 community groups, social service agencies, and similar organisations who are focused on people and community.

We work closely with key partners like the Palmerston North City Council to provide capability and capacity-building programmes to support local community groups, manage the daily operations of Hancock Community House, and administer community funding. 

The Manager leads a small team of staff and is responsible for delivering and reporting to the Board on the goals and strategies in our Strategic Plan.

This is a community leadership role which requires a confident and friendly person who can continue the strong relationships with our member organisations, stakeholders, funders, and other agencies and individuals we work with.

The successful candidate will have experience in the community sector, with an understanding of the legal, financial, and compliance environment that not-for-profits operate in. 

This is a varied and challenging role which provides is an opportunity to be actively involved in your local community and contribute to a strong social services and community sector.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification 
  • An understanding of running a ‘for purpose’/community organisation

This role will be between 30–37.5 hours per week – there is some flexibility to negotiate to meet the needs of the right candidate and of the organisation.
