Established in 1982, Hutt Valley Sexual Abuse Support and Healing (HV SASH) provides free 24/7 crisis support and counselling services for anyone of any age, gender, ethnicity or sexuality affected by sexual abuse, rape or sexual harm. HV SASH supports Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt communities.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, and as a valuable member of the HV SASH team, you will play a key role in supporting the Operations Manager by providing high-level administration and business coordination to ensure smooth, effective, and efficient daily operations of the business. Additionally, you will also help maintain a healthy, safe and welcoming environment for both HV SASH staff and clients.


Key responsibilities:

  • Client Service Coordination: Greet clients, whanau and visitors as they arrive, ensuring they feel welcome and safe. Monitor and manage the Support email inbox, and maintain client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Business Administration: Receive/answer and respond to general phone enquiries, monitor stock levels and order supplies, liaise with suppliers and contractors, and coordinate the annual building WOF and fire alarm checks, etc.
  • Payroll and Finance Assistance: Process and pay fortnightly payroll using Smartly, and processing invoices and weekly and monthly payments in Xero.
  • Contractor Invoicing: Support the Accountant by serving as the primary liaison for ACC and contracted counsellors, checking purchase orders, and ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and payments.
  • Waitlist Management: Maintain the ACC client waitlist for the Operations Manager during her absences, and keep clients informed as required.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Maintain records and perform data entry/extraction using the database, ensuring data accuracy and integrity for all users, and assist the Operations Manager in preparing and collating data and information for accreditation, financial audits, and contract audits, ensuring data accuracy and integrity for all users.
  • Health & Safety: Identify, monitor, and report emerging health and safety risks or hazards to the Operations Manager.


This is a permanent part-time position (18 hours per week) based in Waterloo, Lower Hutt. Hours to be worked are between 9 – 3pm, covering three days Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Person Profile:

  • Proven experience working in a front-facing client service role in a fast-paced environment, or related position
  • Experience working in healthcare, mental health, disability services or social services, would be highly advantageous
  • Experience in payroll and accounts/finance administration is desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and engagement skills
  • Ability to work in a culturally responsive manner and relate to a diverse range of people from all walks of life, genders, ages, backgrounds and cultures
  • Highly intuitive and sensitive to others needs
  • Highly agile, solutions-focused, process driven and detailed oriented
  • Capable of working effectively under pressure in a challenging environment
  • Demonstrate good sense of humour and resilience, and strong self-care and self-awareness skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute as part of wider team
  • Display an open, welcoming, respectful, empathetic, friendly, calm and caring disposition
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in sensitive matters
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office 365, CRM databases, finance and payroll software (i.e. Xero, Smartly)
  • Experience working with people affected sexual abuse or rape sexual harm would be highly advantageous but not essential.
