About the role

The General Manager operationalises TEC’s commitment to the community across the TEC Hub and gardens, partnerships, projects and contracts, whilst providing a voice for the community and taiao through advocacy and support.

Reporting directly to the committee this role combines all things leadership and works across all operations to lead the team and bring TEC’s business plans and strategies to life. You’ll be key in building TEC’s profile as the go-to partner for environmental initiatives within the Tairawhiti region.

This exciting role is made for someone who wants to combine their passion for all things environmental with commercial know how. 

 

What are we looking for?

We’re seeking an empathetic leader who is proactive and not afraid to speak up for progress. A real team player who recognises the value of the experience within the team. You’ll be realistic that you can’t take this all on yourself and through quality relationships you will garner the support of others and the opportunity to grow. 

Among the list of must haves are:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Leadership and management experience including financial and employee responsibilities
  • NZ drivers licence
  • Knowledge of tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • An understanding of the basic requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Employment Relations Act

But above all you’ll be able to demonstrate your commitment to improving the taiao or tackling environmental issues.
