Job Description

Karori West OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation) is looking for a manager to
lead the day-to-day running of our after school care and holiday programme.

If you have people management and administrative experience, and you’re looking

This role is 25-30 hours per week, with flexibility for when you do some of the hours.

What you’ll do:

We’re looking for someone who can lead our team of 15 supervisors and deliver fun,
safe, inclusive and memorable care for our tamariki.
Responsibilities include:
● leading a team of 15 supervisors
● planning and implementing after school and holiday programme activities
● engaging with and caring for tamariki
● budgeting, rostering and payroll
● ensuring compliance with government, audits, and any other guidelines and
● managing relationships with parents and caregivers.

You have a passion to work with children, creating an inspiring environment for
them to thrive. You’ll welcome working with a diverse team and tamariki, and show
commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi. Previous leadership and administrative
experience alongside strong communication and problem-solving skills will help you
succeed. You’ve got energy, initiative and good judgment, and can provide sound
guidance for our team.

If you’re the right person for the role, we’ll support you to undertake childcare and
educational training to make sure you get the necessary skills to thrive in the role.

This is a part time role for 25-30 hours per week, so you can fit it in around study,
childcare, other mahi, or your outside creative pursuits. Whilst 12 hours are in-person
with our tamariki and supervisors, the other 13-18 hours are more flexible around your
needs. We offer supportive working conditions and we’re always open to hearing
how we can further support our kaimahi in the workplace.

About Karori West OSCAR

We provide after-school care and holiday programmes for the tamariki of Karori West
Normal School. The mātua (parent) committee manage the OSCAR group, and
employ experienced childcare kaimahi to run the programme. We are registered as
an Incorporated Society, approved by the Ministry of Social Development. We’re a
supportive, friendly group of kaimahi who enjoy the flexibility and fun of working at
