Timebank is a network which encourages the exchange of skills, goods, knowledge and resources using time as the currency. It builds community while rewarding good things people do for each other, their community and the environment.

Are you wanting to make a difference to your communities in Whangaroa-Kerikeri/Te Pēwhairangi BOI and/or Kaikohe-Hokianga?!

We're seeking up to three paid Local Coordinators for 12 hours a week each within Far North District Council. The primary focus of the role is enabling members to engage with Timebank and access the help they need.

This involves creating opportunities for members to get to meet and know each other and connect. The pandemic has left our many of our lives much more insular at a time when the Climate Crisis means we really need stronger resilient communities.

Our Local Coordinator rohe are based on the FNDC Community Board Wards

This role covers a wide rohe:

Whangareo-Kerikeri

Te Pēwhairangi (Bay of Islands); Paihia, Russell-Ōpua.

as well as Kawakawa-Moerewa Kaikohe-Hokianga.

Much of the support can be provided online, with regular social gatherings when the opportunity arise. We require our Local Coordinators to live in the area that they serve.

All our coordination team are self employed contractors for Te Pokapū Tiaki Taiao O Te Tai Tokerau Trust (more commonly known as Tiaki Taiao), paid on invoice at $30 per hour (this is scheduled to increase in June by agreement)

We're looking for people who are:

A keen Timebank participant (or keen to become one!)

Passionate about building community

Good at seeing links and building connections

Great networking skills

Great communicator – written and spoken

Ability to relate to people of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities

Excellent organisation skills

Good computer skills

Meticulous record keeper

Flexible and creative

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

We use a number of online tools in order to work as a geographically scattered team, so having regular reliable internet access is essential.
