Job Description

  • Inaugural CE for a newly established charitable trust
  • Enable a more disability responsive family violence and sexual violence system
  • Remote working, flexible NZ location

VisAble is a newly established disabled person-led organisation that aims to build capacity and capability across communities, agencies and sectors in the prevention and response to abuse against people. VisAble enables safe lives that are free from harm, abuse and violence, ensuring people are heard and the community and systems are aware and responsive.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the establishment of a brand-new charitable trust which will be the first of its kind; taking a disability focus on family violence and sexual violence.

You will work closely with the Board to lead the change process to establish the operational model for VisAble and build a capable and effective disabled person-led team, to provide ongoing delivery of VisAble services. The opportunity is unique, in that there is already a significant contract in place to support the establishment and ongoing delivery of these important services.

You will position VisAble to maximise opportunities to enable growth, sustainability and create partnerships with government agencies and other services to make a significant difference for the disability community.

The appointment will initially be fixed term until June 2025, however they are hopeful they’ll be successful in securing this contract going forward.

Person profile:

  • A disabled person, or have credibility and trust within the disability community, or have empathy and a commitment to a disability rights approach
  • Demonstrated experience working in a senior leadership position within the disability and/or family/sexual violence sector and/or related sectors
  • Ability to think strategically, articulate and implement VisAble’s vision
  • A growth mindset, with experience in managing organisational growth and change
  • Demonstrated financial and people management expertise
  • A leadership style which is collaborative, kind and inclusive
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of people and situations in a mana enhancing way
  • Commitment to and an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications and application in the disability sector/VisAble
  • Demonstrated experience navigating, advocating and influencing within the political sector
