Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA) is a New Zealand-based international development agency that engages Kiwi volunteers on long and short-term volunteer assignments overseas and online.  These assignments enable Kiwis to share their skills and knowledge with communities striving for sustainable change in the wider Pacific and beyond.

VSA Recruitment Advisor roles are people-centric; you’ll be working collaboratively with other teams across the organisation, and you’ll have the opportunity to interact with some really inspiring people from a diverse range of professions who have applied for one of VSA’s volunteer assignments.

 In this role, you will be tasked with finding, screening, interviewing, and selecting high-calibre volunteers from a wide range of professions, from doctors to business advisors to beekeepers. Your reward will be knowing that the volunteers you select will make a difference, and this purpose will guide your mahi.

 You will run comprehensive end-to-end recruitment processes, focusing not only on professional fit but also on value alignment, cultural competency, and suitability for volunteering. You will showcase your skills throughout the process, from promoting vacancies and sourcing candidates, to leading panel interviews, giving feedback on role design, and participating in recruitment campaigns. You will work closely with others in the organisation to ensure the volunteers you select have a successful journey with VSA.

This is a fixed term position until 30 June 2025 and we are looking for someone who can commit to the full term of the contract. VSA offers  flexible working options as well as five weeks annual leave.

 

Person Profile:

  • End-to-end recruitment experience
  • Sound interpersonal and interviewing skills, with the ability to interact in a culturally respectful manner at all levels across both New Zealand and Pacific organisations
  • Embodies manaakitanga and has the ability to quickly establish trusted and productive working relationships
  • Confidence in both verbal and written communication skills
  • Resilience, adaptability and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • High level of motivation and initiative, self-management and ability to work autonomously to deliver results
  • Tech-savvy with a working knowledge of Office 365-suite of products and preferably Applicant Tracking Systems (VSA uses JobAdder)
  • A genuine interest in humanitarian issues or not-for-profit work and a commitment to VSA’s vision of building a world of thriving communities
  • Cheerful, positive and comfortable working with a bunch of professional, focused and fun colleagues
  • Commitment to and understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bi-culturalism and multi-culturalism

The salary range for this role is $65,345 - $76,876 depending on skills and experience.
