Rārangi Utu ā-Mātauranga - Education Payroll Limited (EPL) is a core part of New Zealand’s education sector, delivering an accurate, timely and secure payroll for the people at the heart of our education system – teachers and support staff.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Are you keen to be the right-hand person to a fantastic Board and energetic chief executive? Can you organise anything, wrangle busy people, run an office like clockwork and still be smiling at the end of the day?

Reporting to the Chief Executive, this role is the company secretary, providing support to the Education Payroll Limited (EPL) Board and Chief Executive. 

The role is a critical connector for Education Payroll, facilitating relationships and workflows between the Board, the Chief Executive, senior leaders of Education Payroll, the Ministry of Education and education sector, the Minister’s office, and a range of other external stakeholders. 

The role is EPL’s office manager, looking after our dynamic and friendly workplace, and is therefore expected to be in the office regularly.

Kōrero mōu - About you

As company secretary and office manager you’ll have a laser-like focus on the needs of governance stakeholders and internal customers. You’ll build and maintain positive relationships and communicate clearly and concisely. Managing conflicting priorities and deadlines and demonstrating meticulous attention to detail will be your superpowers. 

Public sector experience in an executive governance support role will be an advantage.

The successful candidate will need:

  • Public sector experience in an executive governance support role.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to think strategically, while implementing practical solutions.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to deliver when there are competing priorities and deadlines.
  • The ability to prioritise and escalate issues as required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite skills and technical proficiency in supporting hybrid ways of working.

Ko tā mātou mahi | We offer

The remuneration for the successful candidate will be between $120,000 and $150,000 depending on their experience and capability.
