Who we’re looking for

We are seeking two new volunteer Board members who bring: 

  • Previous governance experience  

  • Experience in risk and compliance (preferable) 

  • Strong professional judgement and the ability to think strategically 

  • A commitment to children’s rights and ethical, valuesbased leadership 

  • Capacity to contribute around 4 hours per month, depending on sub-committee involvement 

Board members may be located anywhere in Aotearoa New Zealand, with an expectation of attending at least one inperson meeting per year. 

About the role

Board members are responsible for the governance and strategic oversight of ECPAT Child Alert Trust (ECPAT NZ). This is a voluntary role that provides the opportunity to contribute skills and judgment to a highimpact organisation working to protect children from sexual exploitation.   

Key responsibilities

The ECPAT NZ Board is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the organisation. Board members are required to:  

  • Set the strategic direction of ECPAT and monitor organisational performance 

  • Provide financial and risk oversight 

  • Support, monitor and evaluate the performance of the Director 

  • Ensure strong governance policies, ethical practice and compliance 

  • Act as an ambassador for ECPAT NZ and its mission 

About ECPAT Child Alert Trust

ECPAT NZ is part of the global ECPAT network and works to ensure children in Aotearoa New Zealand are free from all forms of sexual exploitation. Our work includes research, specialist training, advocacy, education, legal submissions and collaboration with government, communities and international partners. 

ECPAT NZ is guided by values that centre children’s rights, uphold dignity, and promote fair and equitable relationships. Our Board plays a critical role in ensuring this work is impactful, ethical and sustainable.
